Andrew Holdsworth is the man behind Grix Precision Eyewear. Andrew studied Industrial Design in Melbourne Australia, before starting his own high performance automotive parts manufacturing and distribution company in 1986. He has always loved automotive design and saw a great opportunity to combine classic racecar technology with sunglass design in 2003. Four years of solid development has finally seen the launch of Grix Precision Eyewear.
Andrew has recently been joined by Bernie Walsh, one of Australia’s leading automotive designers, after working in the automotive design studios of Nissan and GM Holden. Further assistance has come from two leading Melbourne Opticians, Steve Maskell and David Watson to ensure that Grix designs not only looked great, but featured the absolute best optics available today.
In a world first, Grix Sunglasses are built from high tech 6061 aircraft aluminium frames that have
been carved to micrometer accuracy using the latest computer numeric controlled (CNC) machining centres.

CNC machining was chosen as the ideal manufacturing method as it not only looked great, it suits CAD CAM design technology to allow rapid development of ideas and greater flexibility of designs.
Designs can be created on screen and viewed through 3D modelling prior to manufacture. This ensures perfect fit and dimensionality every time.
The aluminium frames are extremely lightweight but are strong enough to handle everything the heavy duty world of motorsport can dish out. The aluminium frame and temples can be reshaped by hand to suit most head sizes and the additional flexibility of our flush mounted spring hinge design makes them some of the most comfortable sunglasses you will ever wear.

Our anodized finish not only looks great but hardens the surface of the aluminium frames and impregnates the surface to protect the translucent colour finishes from wear and tear.
Our aluminium frames are also allergy free and non corrosive.
Grix Sunglasses feature a beautifully made adjustable nose piece complete with replaceable rubber nose pads for even greater comfort. Grix Sunglasses are fully rebuildable in the unlikely event that you have succeeded in breaking your frames. Simply send them back to our warranty department where our trained staff will restore your Grix Sunglasses to like-new condition.
